It's also a sad indictment of the unwillingness of Leica's repair department to be as proactive about the problem as this Portuguese repairman. "Sorry, no parts" is the kind of modern jobsworth attitude Leica customer service might like to rise above.
Leica just wants to sell you a new digital at a discount price. I remember when i called about a CM, they wanted to sell me a D-Lux4 at a discount. Nowhere near a replacement.

Good news, now that I can have some faith in a future CM purchase (2nd time)!
Although in comparison:
Leica CM: made in Germany. Introduced in 2003, discontinued in 2007. Parts & service stopped in 2008.
Contax T3: made in Japan. Introduced in 2001, discontinued in 2005. Kyocera guaranteed a ten-year period of parts & service. In North America you can still get it fully repaired for a $169 flat rate at ToCAD (official Kyocera service provider) until early 2015.

Hi,
FWIW, I'd always prefer a C3 to the CM but that's just my 2d worth. I've not come across anyone having problems with the C3, fingers crossed...
