Found this at the camera show today and was wondering if anybody could give me any info on it.
I know it allows using Contax/Kiev lens on a screwmount Leica but is it worth selling on the bay?? :p

No it is not worth selling on e-bay. Send it to me and I'll pay postage.

P.S. Seriously what do you want for it?

Since I don't know what is a fair price I wanted to get an idea from others.

Well, DVD Technik sells a similar adapter for $25 (http://www.dvdtechcameras.com/other/adapter/29/29.htm).

However, they are a bit different. The DVD Technik adapter does not have an internal mount for 50mm lenses. However, on your adapter, lenses with an internal mount can be mounted, but not focused, and I have doubts about whether lenses with an external mount can be focused. With the DVD Technik adapter they can. Neither of the two adapters allow rangefinder operations.

I would check if yours is a Leitz item, given that it's "made in Germany". In this case it has more collectible than user value and is probably worth more than $25.

While you are correct that it will not focus the 50 it does allow for focusing of the 35, 85, and 135mm Jupiter lens since they have their own helical. But like you said rangefinder operation cannot be done.
I'll have to do a test roll to see if proper focus is achived with these lens.

Colyn,
Be careful! Some of the adapters are quite valuable. Also make sure it's for Contax, not Nikon. (Nikon would be even more valuable ... an original Nikon-to-LTM adapter from the 1950s can go for hundreds of dollars, even more than than $1,000).

Looks like 1 of the non-focusing adapters that allow you to mount a superwide or wide Contax RF mount lens on a TM Leica body. They're not nearly as valuable as the kind w/a focus helical (i.e.., Cooke & Perkins, Orion, & modern Japanese & HK copies thereof), but you could probably sell it for a decent amount of money on the 'bay ($20-50). As you've mentioned, you could also use it mount an external mount telephoto on a TM Leica body, but it won't engage the RF.

how about selling it at what you paid for? you can't profit much from this anyway

If I sell something I always make a little profit especially if you sell on ebay because the fees you have to pay you would lose money..

How would you go about determining if it is for Nikon?
All of my Kiev lens fit on it.

I desided to list it on the bay. So far it has a $20 bid on it so I'm making money.

If a Kiev 50mm or longer lens focuses okay wide open, then it's for Kiev/Contax. If the focus seems consistently short, then it's probably for Nikon. If it's a non-focusing adapter, it's kind of a moot point because the focus pitch won't matter. Either mount will fit correctly, and you scale focus.

It's the non-focusing mount.

I may try it out with my Jupiter lens to see how well it works.
