FYI, it starts at 9 AM, ends at 4 PM. The event consists on a Leica representative who explains to you what can be done with their toys, lets you play with them while the store offers discounts to wreck your holiday savings plans. I'm curious about the MP body and the 90mm and wide angle lenses, not for immediate purchase, though. I simply want to know if I could get some use of the long lens, because I do know I'll use the wide angle.

In case you want to know, I'm planning on being there at 10 or a bit later than that, and then go out and shoot the town with my own gear. In fact, I may buy a couple of rolls of Scala and use them up that day!

I used to love Central Camera when I lived in Chicago. Walking around in the loop also provided constant photo oportunities...

From what I've read and from the messages I've exchanged with some street photographers, one thing you do is, say, "stalk" your shot (not your prey, mind you). For instance, you simply choose a place in front of a wall where you see a potential good composition, or stand by shop windows and wait for someone to "make the image" for you. Also, previsualizing your shots helps a bit... In fact, it's a lot better than wandering around, camera in hand, waiting for your shots come your way. I'll have to exercise my smiling skills, as I may ask people if they don't mind being photographed...

But, if I go to the loop tomorrow, I'll carry my camera ready to shoot from the hip. And with the offers on C-41 film and all the 1-hour labs you can find all over, there won't be much of a waiting time to see your shots. Who needs digital? :p

Well... I didn't see anyone there! :p

The Leica man was very patient and kind, but still a salesman, he tried all he could to make me take a Summicron 90/2 with. I would have been glad to take the 35mm instead, but the long lens was surprisingly easy to use.

Did anyone else check the place out?
