Do you have some useful tips on how best to use this camera? Which SD card do you recommend for RAW images? This is an old model with a small sensor and 5 MP capabilities.
It sports a Summicron 7-22.5, giving the equivalent of 28-90, with max aperture 2.0-2.4.
Thank you for your feedback.

4 gig SanDisk cards. I never shot raw, when shooting 400 iso, use a noise reduction software.

I read online that the camera cannot manage SD cards with more than 2GB.
Thanks for the tip.
Give me an example of a noise reduction software. Are the results so noisy looking?
Are the jpg images good?

Yeah, it is a 2 gig sd. I'm rusty as my daughter has mine now

Thanks for the links. Shooting jpg images takes care of the buffer time problem.

I just bought such a camera! The buy is about to be finalized today.

It is an awesome camera Raid. I loved mine, but grew frustrated with the shutter lag and the fact that 5 megapixels did not do the lens and sensor justice. The 28-90 equivalent was a perfect walk around focal length.

Also, if you need larger files, use alienskin blow up. Works beautifully

What is alienskin? I will check it out. Thanks.

I will use it for an upcoming trip to Europe, side by side with my EP2 (10MP) on which I will use a Zeiss 85/1.4. I do not need larger image files for family photos taken during a trip. The shutter lag may be used to slow you down in photography, for more careful compositions.

Ivan (Dotur) used such a camera for RAW images that he then converts with some software to B&W images.
You seem to use jpg color images, followed by noise reduction for ISO 400 images.
I need to learn a bit using this camera to be able to get the most out of it.

Sounds like a fun trip. Be used to the shutter lag first though, its different from slowing you down in shooting. I hate shutter lag the most, when you think you got the moment when everyone is laughing, it's actually 1 second later when nothing happens. I want a camera that shoot when i want it to, not 1 second after.

This is a good point. I also don't like it when the moment is gone.
Oh well. I need to figure things out later on.
So this camera is good for static objects and not for street photography.
It cost me not much, so it will be a fun camera before anything else for me.

Not good for street photography? Just be ready in time and burst a series of 3 jpgs. Usually the second shot nails the decisive moment.
If you don't think ahead, even the complete absence of shutter lag will not save your life chance, you lousy gunman!

^^ Agreed,
I doubt the shutter lag is really a breaking issue,
The 3 shot burst mode, is really a great way to nullify it all together.
Raid, google "Thorsten Overgaard Leica D2" This man has spent a fair amount of time with these cameras. His words and images alone, give these cameras cult status.
Blake (Nikonosguy) has a sweet Facebook group full of jawdropping snaps, Leica Digilux 2 Users, I believe.
I am still acquiring funds, but I may have found a D2 within my immediate reach.
Fingers crossed, ill be shooting one of these very soon,

Back when it was new, I found this review to be informative (and persuasive):

He talks about some of the things you've mentioned, like noise and shutter lag.

Yes, this man has lots of useful information on using the Digilux 2.
I am happy to have bought one (in a Panasonic).
I paid $315. At the same time, last night on ebay a Digilux 2 sold for just about this amount by Henry's Camera (Canada).
