Hello everybody!

I Heard leica has a new price of 1500 dollars for DLUX insted of 1850. But when i google i see in every page the old price.

Does anyone knows why?
Any advice where to buy a Dlux for the lowest price?

sorry about my english again.

Gustavo, if you're in the lookout for one, check www.photo.net. There's a classified ad section and I remember having seen someone selling that Leica for $1450. Of course, it's used, but reliable.

Now, if you're aiming at new... Just don't buy from the first two sellers on your google list. They are famous for playing bait-and-switch schemes to defraud their customers. Broadway Photo... I'm not sure about, but AM and Digital Liquidators have sad reputations.

Good luck shopping!

B&H is selling the Digilux 2 for $1530. (new, USA warranty) That's the lowest price listed on Pricegrabber, and pretty darn close to the "new" price announced at PMA.

amphotoworld.com, digitalliquidators.com, and bwayphoto.com all have terrible scores on resellerratings.com -- stay away!

Hi everyone! Do you know if there´s any difference to the similar Panasonic Lumix model?

Thanks, elgafo

Only differences are body design/ergonomics, bundled software for your computer, and warranty. Oh, and no Red Dot on the Panasonic. :D

OK, thank you! It seems that these things (perhaps exept the red dot ;-) ...) are worth the difference in price.

All three of these stores are the same and are well known for their scams. They ship used equipment instead of new, overcharge on shipping and refuse to credit you for returned merchandise. Click here to see their storefront.

Most of the NYC camera shops are like this. I don't know why. The only one I would really trust is B&H PhotoVideo. Here is their storefront. Okay, you shouldn't judge a shop soley by this but if you ask around it will become clear which shops should be avoided.

Leica does not really allow the shops they deal with to go below their suggested price so if you see it for less than $1500 something is probably not right. The Panasonic apparently has no such restrictions and can be had for around $1100. Below that I would worry that it may be a grey-market item. The Panasonic has a better grip and includes a protective filter and cabled remote. On the other hand it has a smaller SD card and shorter warranty period. However, will Leica be around in three years for warranty work? Something to think about. The software bundles are also different.

I'll probably get the Panasonic version myself if they don't release a new model soon.
