So far all I know is that its a sharp lens made for the military (US NAVY) by Leitz Canada. But what I dont know is how much does one of these run price wise? I assume its a pretty rare lens? Ill be taking some pics with it to see if it really is that sharp. Anyways enjoy the pictures 🙂

Wow. Mind if I ask how you came about acquiring one?

Yes, expensive. Two years ago, I knew of one selling for $10K in Hong Kong.

And yes, made for the US military under special order by the US, by the Midland plant.

I also know of a story where one showed up in Ottawa, apparently in a box of "stuff" owned by an ex Midland employee, and the lens sold to someone in Hong Kong, about $5K to $7K, many years ago (5 maybe 10 years).

HOLY CRAP! That is one pricey lens. Its probably in 70-80% condition range and its a bit stiff focusing to infinity. I read your link about the guy who tried to sell this lens only to be confiscated by the FBI??? Well that sucks, guess selling it would be kinda hard in U.S.

I don't even know if it would sell in the USA. Most of the pricey stuff is selling in Asia these days. Pretty much a rich collector's dream item.
