the 28mm pre-asph elmart is actually sharper than the tiny asph.

Yes, I'm discovering that the v3 is amazing if you just ignore its size.
I guess I'm trying to see if anyone has any additional info/experience either subjective or charts on the comparison to the v4. For example how to the corners compare?

I don't have any reference but I do recall (and I believe this makes sense) that the pre-asph has sharper center, weaker corners than the asph. The pre-asph is breathtakingly sharp at 2.8 centerish, whereas the asph is pretty good.
Oh and there are some rendering differences too I believe. The asph is warmer and the pre-asph is cooler like most leica designs. If you have a pre-asph 35 cron, it would be a better fit.

Don't overlook the newer (and cheaper) Elmar-M 24/3.8 ASPH: it looks pretty fine. I'd get one, but my Elmarit 28 ASPH says no.![]()
Yes, agreed - I had the 24 Elmarit but after buying the Elmar and shooting both for a while, I sold the older Elmarit. I much preferred the results of the Elmar.
