Whatever it is folks - I am happy about it.
I can push more, have more headroom with sharpening, less blotchy, more grainy noise and on top the feeling, that Lr3 feels more snappy.

I am glad, I spent the money ;-)

Same here, I was hoping the beta would last me a few more weeks but it expired on Tuesday and I had no other choice.

And I agree about your comments earlier regarding time, as an overall photo management tool, LR3 takes me where I need to go and then let's me have time for other things.
