I just got off the telephone with Bill Rosaur, who as Editor, along with Tom Abrahamsson and myself, are responsible for putting out the LHSA's quarterly mag, Viewfinder. We were near to finalizing the content for the next issue. I mentioned how interesting and helpful this R-D1 forum has been, and Bill asked what we all thought of the last issue of Viewfinder, the one which was largely devoted to the R-D1 and user reviews by Society members. I replied that there had been discussions of various reviews, e.g. from Pop Photog, Erwin, etc., but that I couldn't remember anyone binging up Viewfinder. So I just did a search, and my recollection was correct.
I really don't want to be a troll here, but I guess that either no one is an LHSA member, or no one has admitted that they've seen the issue in question. It came out (to members) about a month ago (Vol. 37, No. 4) and has front and rear cover images shot with the R-D1, as well as 10 pages inside of comments and reviews.

So, how do we buy this magazine if we're not members LHSA? Can we purchase it from a website somewhere? I was like to have a copy.

I got a call from a former LHSA member, a lurker here but an M user who is considering an R-D1, and saw this thread. He plans to rejoin the Society to get this issue. He also plans to join this forum once tax season is finished.
I have 4 extra copies of this issue here with me, which I will send to the first four who ask for them, along with a membership brochure. Beyond that, should anyone be so inclined, I'll have to ask our administrator. By all means look at the LHSA website, <LHSA.org>.
Those interested contact me off list.

I've read various issues of Viewfinder online (and, I think, at least one issue purchased at Universal News in NYC) but this is the first I've heard about the R-D1 issue being out...

Bill Rosauer had wanted to have Viewfinder on selected news counters, but this never (as yet) has come to pass. There may be some of it on line through the LHSA website. We try to balance articles about Leica history, eqiuipment, including new release by Leica, Cosina, etc., more general photographic lore, and images. We have just upgraded the printing to (mostly) duotones for the B&W images.
I enclose pdf's of the front and rear covers of the issue in question.

That's all 4, but I'll see what I can do. I have Sean's address, but Chris, Gordon, and Bob H. need to get me their addresses, off list.
Enjoy.

Got all 4 addresses, but Larry's didn't come through. I think I have another copy here for him. After that I will have to ask our administrator.

I just spoke with our office administrator and she has plenty of copies to send out. Larry and DaShiv will get theirs this way, and I'll await other names.

Ed,
I'm a relatively new LHSA member and recently received my first two issues of Viewfinder. I was impressed. The general style of writing is homey and down-to-earth, as the authors are not trying to sell themselves or products.
The coverage of the R-D1 was optimistic. I do not own an R-D1 (nor do I plan to) but the article corresponded very well to coverage in other magazines as well as with reports from owners.
