Leica II-D vs IIf

Don't have a IIf, but I can't imagine I would leave my II for one.

Agreed, I prefer even a II black post-war conversion to a IIf.

I prefer the early black model because it's more discreet and does not attract the same attention as a pristine IIf or IIIf. I don't like drawing attention to myself when taking pictures in street markets or at events and with the black one most people just assume it's a retro styled digital.

@ 80 years old - that would be pretty deep into retro territory. 🙂

The fun part is a well maintained Leica II, used in good light, will out perform many of today's pocket-able, point and shoot digitals.

And 1/4" screw in for the case...

OK it's trivial but I'd dearly like to know when 1/4" replaced 3/8" as it would solve some mysteries for me. Like has someone switched the base plates on my one, or what?

Were not both available, according to market? Or even special order? Like feet/metres? The UK and USA rejected the international standard 3/8 inch and insisted on 1/4 inch.

I suspect that but wanted to be sure as there's so much misinformation about. I've not seen it in my old catalogues and bitter experience makes me search for a prime source...
