Leica IIf RD (1/1000)

Hello all -

I'm excited waiting for my latest acquisition - a late IIf RD with the 1/1000 speed. Most of my Leicas are 'users' but this one looks very clean. I'm assuming it will need a trip to get a CLA. I always wanted one of these. Anyone have any idea when the higher speed became standard on the IIf? How many made? Anything else different about them internally?

Wow, did you ever get a camera that seems almost too clean to use? That's this IIf which arrived last night. I have never seen a RF/VF as clean and useable as this one. What's killing me me is no marks at all on the top plate - I just know I'm going to put one there loading the thing... time for a new leather case to protect the thing. All my old Leica cases are 3/8"...

Oh, I have lots of cool pictures. It definitely happened.
If posting them here wasn't such a pain in the ass, I might....
Taking a few I noticed a tiny bright mark on a corner of the top plate - I feel so much better now!

I love to get a pristine camera, Chris, but then I don't like it because I don't want to mess it up. We are going to Galveston tomorrow, and I am not taking either of the Leicas. The model ii is gorgeous, so that one is out, but I actually shot the M2 in the rain last weekend, but beachy-salt air is trouble.
So the Zorki will be the sacrifice.

Ah! The Zorki Sacrifice! One of my favorite Christopher Plummer movies.

But seriously, I used my Zorki 6 in much the same way until it finally left me in the lurch once too many times. My Bessa T and R2 (or, more likely, one of many old nikons) sorta fill the role now. Also my 2 Leica IIIc have had what was left of the chrome sanded off and painted black - they're fair game for hiking and other action.
