I think I may just pop down the local engraver and have mine mutilated if it's worth that much! I notice he says "appears genuine" rather than "is genuine and I can prove it"

Hmmm well that's the imfamous "Leitz" factory personalities engraving, I found one with some ladies name on it, it was a really nice but "used" IIIFRD with a nice round number serial, I don't know who the woman was, I tried to research her online and came up with nothing.......sigh I did'nt buy the camera.

But that is the style from the original factory presentation engraving.

........about LIFE photography photographers, my 1943 IIIC K was owned by a Black Star photographer who was published regularly in LIFE magazine in the late 1940's his work is now part of a College collection in Canada, and I have written providence of the cameras ownership.......wonder how much more my ole gal's worth due to that history, and also that it's like one of 4 or 5 known Dark Red shutter curtain K cameras? ~ Ohh I'd never sell her anyway 😉
