Leica IIIc Questions

In my experience, it's not absolutely necessary to trim the leader, but I do it anyway (most of the time). Film straight from the can requires a little more patience and care, but loading is fiddly enough as it is.

Simply cut the film back 10 cm / 4" per the little diagram in the camera. Make sure to land in between two sprocket holes and round over the corners nicely. Done.

Bottom-loading is not really difficult, it just shouldn't be rushed. Also, out and about, you tend to run out of hands for the body, two spools, and loose bottom plate. Practice at home.

I just ordered an inexpensive 50/3.5 Industar 50 from Fedka dot Com. I didn't really want to spring for lotsa cash on an Elmar just yet, in case I turn out to be less-than-qualified as a Barnack Leica member! And I have yet to order the 50mm viewfinder either, but the day is young!

And I'll definitely do a few dry runs on loading the camera before I attempt it in the field. I still have a helluva time loading my Hasselblad sometimes!

TAH-DAH!

It's here! Already! I sent my IIIc off to Youxin last Monday, and I already have it back! Holy Moly that was fast!

Just loaded a roll of Tri-X, and I'm headed out the door; plenty of sunshine left today!

The new RF patch is bright and clear, all of it looks like it's ready to play for a very long time!

I'll let you know, but right now it's time to take some shots...

Mark

Oh, yeah. Thanks again for everyone's help!
