Hi all,

I noticed some coloured bands running vertically through some of my images. It doesn't happen on every neg though. I only noticed it when I developed the first colour film (I usually use black and white). I checked the negatives to see if it was only on the frame or recess and there seems to be a leak where the take up spool is. Have a look for yourselves below with an example of the problem and of an affected neg recess.

Thanks!

Gary

Edit:

I've added some more photos that might make the problem a bit clearer.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary with either picture. If it's only happened with this roll of color film, I would suggest maybe it's the processor rather than the camera.

It has been on every role of colour (not black and white). I've added some more photos that might make the problem a bit clearer.

Thanks

The light leak of the sprocketholes looks familiar. It is caused by light leaks around the slow-speed knob. I cured it with a piece of light-tight plastic foil fixed with tape next (left) to the knob. The body shell has to be removed to install it.

Erik.

That sounds like it could be it Erik, now if only I was brave enough to take the camera apart haha. I might just stick to black and white film!

Thanks,

Gary

If it is a light leak, black and white will suffer too.

If there is no selftimer, opening a IIIc or IIIf is very simple.

Erik.

I have just had a look at all my negs (black and white and colour) and none of the others seem to have the problem in the recess. Something they all have in common is that the negs with the colour casts are all at the end of the strip! It looks like it's my scanner to blame :bang:

Glad is doesn't seem to be the camera though!

Thanks for the replies Erik.

I can see it a lot more clearly in those images. It's subtle, I can see how you could lose it in B&W.
I agree with Erik about the slow speed knob probably being the culprit. it doesn't show up on all frames because of the time between shots.
