I am going to a conference in Bansko in Bulgaria on Sunday and want to bring my Leica M6. We will be skiing a bit. I don't want to leave tha camera at the hotel and bought some fp4+ to use in the pists.

So, did anyone do something like this? Or is it too risky taking a fall with the camera under the jacket? Maybe I should use my collapsable industar for the pists. And save the Summicron 35mm for nights?

If my fed2 didn't have shutter problems I would take that one.

Of course I _could_ leave the camera with someone that is not skiing when I am going in the death run through the woods at night 🙄

I have been using all my Leica's skiing for 30 years now and never have they been damaged. I have had plenty of bruises from the camera when falling on top of it and I can guarantee: the camera can take more than you can!

I am thinking of carrying the camera in the ordinary strap on one shoulder but under the jacket. Then it is easy to use the camera quite quickly and it would still be quite safe.

I am so snow-illiterate. And I thought it was a mispelling. I learn something new every day.

Reassuring to know that it will perform in these conditions; I'll try to remember that. Have fun

Quite truthfully, I think you should be concerned about the potential danger of what a stiff, heavy camera will do your body should you fall hard. The camera could crack a rib quite easily, I would think. Or if the body flies up and whacks you in the face.

If I were to go skiing, I would take a little Rollei 35 or something of that size.
