Check dpreview for recent news announcement. Leica expecting massive loss for current financial year and banks have reduced credit lines.

No surprise in the current trend in photography..My suggestion to all leica users, is to shoot what they have and don't wory about it, there are many serious things in life to worry about...Leica will save herself in some way, and even if it would not, there will be another RF camera..
We should leave money wars to them, and enjoy our photography.

Leica has too much good technology and branding to go bust. I'm sure someone will come in to bail them out.

With periodic CLA's, my Leica lens will definitely outlast me.
The real people who should be worried are those who want their customized a la carte M's. If you want your special ostrich-skin platinum-chrome MP engraved with Henri Cartier-Bresson's signature superimposed over your own name, you'd better order it from the factory quickly before Leica goes out of business.

I believe someone (firm, world consortium, corporation) will save the day. Heck! They just announced a Japanese subsidiary for distribution in the East!
Remember, Ilford and Agfa got both saved by the bell... Why not Leica?
Who knows... maybe there'll be a move towards more consumer gear with the little red logo on...

Let them go bust, I'd say. Then make a restart as a leaner, more market-driven, more efficient company, maybe under the wings of a bigger brand. They have a nice product but their product line is too small, too niche and too outdated. They'll need to explore other (digital?) horizons if they really want to live another 100 years. Progress is good, and waiting to see where progress is leading is a good strategy. But Leica is not waiting. They fell asleep in the 70s and are now too lazy to get up. Going bust will be a wake-up call they'll never forget and kick them into becoming again the progressive firm they once were.
