Let them go bust, I'd say. Then make a restart as a leaner, more market-driven, more efficient company, maybe under the wings of a bigger brand. They have a nice product but their product line is too small, too niche and too outdated. They'll need to explore other (digital?) horizons if they really want to live another 100 years. Progress is good, and waiting to see where progress is leading is a good strategy. But Leica is not waiting. They fell asleep in the 70s and are now too lazy to get up. Going bust will be a wake-up call they'll never forget and kick them into becoming again the progressive firm they once were.
