I spent Easter in the Peak District where there was a bit of a snow blizzard.
I took my M8 out in howling snow one morning. It got kind of covered and I panicked a bit as the snow melted and turned to water - but I rubbed it off quickly.
Happy to report no problems. My M8 is reasonably snow shower proof.
And here is a photo it took that morning...

Meanwhile, later the same day during a walk whilst using the M8 my M2 I had brought to run a couple of films through fell out of the case I had tried to put it into and landed in the snow. Thank God it was a well made solid film camera and not a digital one.

By all accounts the fall did no damage, but I am only developing the film this week so I will have to update you later with a shot from the freezing camera.

I have to laugh that your M2 fell in the snow, and you photographed it rather than picking it up.

Never miss an opportunity to take a photo swoop.

Really like the first shot. Might I ask what focal length / lens it was?

Thanks
I like it too.
It was with the Zeiss 18mm Biogon lens. So on an M8 that's about a 24mm

Did you take a shot of the M2-shaped hole in the snow with no camera?

Ahhh... I missed that trick. You are quite right. I should have taken a photo WITH the M2 of the M2 shaped hole. I will now have to recreate this accident again sometime in my life.

Nice photo. Good to know the M8 is fairly hardy...

I can report that the Leica M2 is alive and well.
Here are a couple of photos I took, "after the fall"

More are in the M2 gallery

This camera is even older than I am so I'm happy a little fall in the snow caused no damage
