Leica in trouble????

Very interesting. So all that internet speculating was correct. Now that could be a real problem for Leica as I assume none of their modern lenses are so designed... :(

True but their modern lenses that I've tested so far do very well on the R-D1 and might work well on the intended digital M with its 1.37 mag. It would be very difficult, I think, to make them work well with digital full frame. But that's also true for most existing rangefinder lenses.

No need to worry as there will be plenty of leica cameras and glass available for the lifetime of the forum members. It has already been made. I suspect even more camaras will come onto the market at estate sales as collectors die off leaving hundreds of camaras to their digital grandkids. How many guys have you met with over one hundred leica camaras? I know of sevral. The only leica that I know of that is not capeable of working or being repaired is Larry Burrows. Most of the camaras are just sitting in collections or all alone on some shelf as far as I know.

Heh, yeah, there were 2,000 black paint M6 Millennium cameras made, 5 were actually used and 1,995 are still sitting brand new on collector shelves. It's like diamonds; if they all flooded the market at once the price would go down the drain. At any rate, there are many untouched Leica M cameras and lenses out there. Not to worry. I also personally think the company is not going anywhere anytime soon.
