Leica in your shirt pocket

At least a shirt pocket is unlikely to also have coins, pocket knife, or keys to share with a camera. But considering lint, weight, appearance, and safety, I avoid carrying any camera in any pocket...

I've carried a Zorki 1D with collapsible I-22 in my shirt pocket just fine (same as having a Leica IIc). But other cameras I've had mixed results with, with the biggest problem being sweat condensation on the camera body. Ruined a nice Canon Sure Shot Classic 120 that way.

The Leica IIIa is exactly the same size as the Leica II but gives you the additional slower speeds. With the Elmar 50/3.5 it slides in and out very nicely.

My wife gave me Leica's Null Series reproduction for Christmas and I have been packing that one everywhere lately. For packing in the pocket, that camera is a dream. It is a bit fiddly to use but that lens makes it all worth it.

Most people prefer larger cameras so shirt pocket carry isn't something they usually consider. But I don't worry about a camera bag and I carry very few accessories. A Blix rangefinder, a Sekonic Twinmate and a few spare rolls of film easily fit in my pockets. I can shoot all day and come home with some very nice negatives to print.

I think it may be possible to carry a Rollei 35 rolled up in one's T shirt sleeve like a pack of cigarettes, if the shirt were of gooe enough material...
A Minox GT could probably do it as well. Maybe a Contax T2.

I'd try this but my arms aren't burly enough to stretch a T shirt sleeve tight enough to hold a camera, or even a pack of cigs for that matter.

As for the shirt pocket, i've never carried a camera there. A few rolls of film sure, but the camera would always be in a jacket pocket for me.

Different strokes for different folks. This way I don't have to carry a jacket to carry a camera.

Of course you can carry a heavy Leica in your shirt pocket (I mean, you can carry one in the small of your back too right?), but it's not for everyone... too awkward for me.

My question wasn't if people can do this, but if people actually do this.

Thanks for the pics! I actually tried carrying my Rollei 35 in my shirt today, and it wasn't that bad.

Does the IIIa (or any earlier Leica LTM) shave non-negligible weight and size over a IIIc/IIIf?
