Leica Jewelry

If Leica didn't attract the rich through its brand power none of us would be able to buy something like an M9 or MM anymore as the company would go bankrupt from lack of sales!

Let people adorn their cameras with jewelry if they wish, some people use Leicas for fun and want to dress them up!

Conversely Leica could start making cameras that average photographers can afford and stop puffing their pillows with the boutique mob!

Seems unlikely though! :D

Gives a sort of "Steampunk" look to the old M3. I don't care what you guys say! It's cool and you know it! :D
Now how they going to get that gangsta "Street-Cred" look?

I'm with Andy.
I like it.
But then again I like the steampunk style/genre, brass carvings, etc.

Hi,

Yes, but would you want a Leica that anyone could afford? And if it was at an average price it might just be an average, mass produced camera. And at least the Hermes version was something to aspire too. Call it a work of art, perhaps, and not a boutique thingy and it might be more acceptable...

Anyway, that's just my 2d worth.

Regards, David

Have to admit that I like it. And the floral one, not the lizard skin version. It reminds me of the Chrome Hearts label that was popular a while back.

I think Leica likes the market it has. A pro friend says the local Leica store in Germany (the owner is a pal of his) has a "huge list of pre-orders" for the latest M digital model. He said that Not One of the people on the pre-order list is a professional photographer. I think Leica is very happy with their new user base.

It's nice to hear that. I am glad they are moving so well into the digital world. It would be ashamed if true craftsmanship was done away. But I do wish they had an economic line of cameras. Something in the line of the Xpro 1. I just think there is a market for it.
Even BMW has some more affordable models.

I bought these back in the states about 10 years ago....There are 2 cufflinks and a matching tie pin....the other two are just pins.....

I'm not sure about the hot shoe cover but the soft release looks pretty good. If the lizard skin version were convex instead of concave, I'd be thinking about buying one.
Sometimes a little silliness if a good thing.
