Leica Kravitz Special Edition with Brassing?

A brassed camera ... are they for real?

This is right up there with those jeans with the frayed, cut and torn finish that people (fools) pay hundreds of dollars for!

Vulgar!

Speaking of special editions, here's one I actually think is really awesome:

BTW Jsrockit did you pre-order a pocket operators?

Ha, a pre-brassed Leica. Well, you gotta admit, they're working hard to cover every niche market that may or may not exist.

I would like to get my hands on one of those 50/1.4 ASPH (black paint E43) lenses though. That is really retro-cool. Anyone know if they are going to produce that lens as a stand alone?

Best,

The Leica with brassed accents looks attractive, which is the point. I wouldn't pay extra for the joy of it though. If it were offered as a standard finish, I might go for it over the standard black.

I don't know much about Lenny Kravitz, I suppose if you're a fan that means something.

Eh? No harm done far as I'm concerned.

If it keeps the $$$ flowing in and allows Leica to continue to make camera's like the MM then rock on and to the collectors buy'm up. Not the camera for me though....

It is like selling new jeans worn and with holes on the knees.
By the way, are the optics scratched as well to keep with the body?
But what is even worse than new worn camera is Lenny Kravitz.
Do you remember Are you gonna go my way video? He is all over there playing guitar. But when you look to the leaflet you see that he didn't play guitar on that album at all.
Leica could easily issue Milli Vanilli version and it would be the same:)))

I agree. It looks good. Just like faded jeans look good. Paying a whole bunch more for it is not good or smart IMO. But what do I know?... I own a Leica.

But don't worry, there are plenty of (wealthy) hipsters that will pay more for the privilege.

They should also sell it with one of these sensor issues often lamented by professional users, this way it is going to be 100% worn-authentic.

This reminds me a lot of the Dr Martens "broken In" shoes you can buy. They say "we wear them, so you don't have to." Part of owning Dr Martens shoes and boots have always been breaking them in to "earn" them. Just like brassing comes from shooting your camera reflects its use. Faking either or just seems poseur

The aesthetic is not so bad, but of course is...something false ? not sure this is the right words, sorry in my english I do not find a better word, but you get the sense.
If this allows Leica to stay in business, to make a reasonable profit helping to develop new products...why not?

Do I have to put my own cleaning marks on the lenses or will Lenny handle that?

PS- I have to admit I like the look of the camera. Prettiest M240 I've yet seen. Too bad the look is not created by natural wear.

PPS- I'm fascinated by the logistics of a pre-worn camera. Will Leica will have templates for the assembly line so they know where to sand away the finish, or if the wear will be applied free-hand by sand paper artisans!

My guess is it's painted on brass and over time it'll wear down to the original black paint for a reverse effect.
