Some people may have seen this post, I accidently posted in the wrong section!
I just want to get some thoughts on 2 x 35mm Leica Lenses. I have been procrastination buying a Leica M for a some time, and finally the M9 arrived… and I had to have it.
I'm not 100% sure on what lens to get, I really want the most versatile lens I can get, and will probably buy a Leica (possibly only one lens ever)! My initial thoughts was to go 35mm and get the Summilux f1.4, the extra stop would be good in low light. The other is the Summicron f2. I have read a couple of reviews on the Summilux and one negative was that the lens (even without the hood) partly blocks the viewfinder, and with the hood on it is even worse. Has anyone out there used this lens and finds this a problem? I think that it would really annoy me!
Also does anyone also know which hood comes with the new Summilux ASPH? Some pictures on the web show a solid-edged rectangular hood. But when I look on the leica site (in-particlar the new Hermès M7, with a Summilux) the hood is circular with cut-outs around the edge. I only ask because I wonder if the cut-out lessen the amount of viewfinder blockage.
Sorry for the long post, this just shows how much I have been thinking about this.
Cheers, Jeff
