I am new to Leica photography, having only recently bought on Ebay a Leica M2 and a 111. The camera bodies are fine. The lenses I bought separately, mechanically and optically good. They are an Elmar 90mm f4, Summicron 50mm f2 collapsible, and a screw mount Elmar f3,5.

My problem is that the 90mm Elmar does not have a constant 'drag' on the focussing movement, but seems to go from smooth to slow. The 50mm Summicron likewise is not constant on the focussing movement, and has some slight play on the barrel when extended.

Are these the sort of problems that a service and lubrication will solve? Anyone suggest a company/individual in the UK who will do this at reasonable cost - I am in England, and prefer a local company purely based on cost of shipping.

Hi monty,

I am learning that lenses are remarkably servicable. Sounds to me like a problem that can be resolved with some TLC. Surely someone from your side of the pond will be along with suggestions for a service person to provide the needed care.

Good Luck
