Has anyone else seen this? A fotodiox conversion bayonet ring works great on the 135mm Elmarit. But on my 90mm Elmarit, once I tighten the screws to secure the bayonet ring, the Aperture ring freezes solid. Something is binding up, but after a lot of looking and experimenting, I can't find a thing wrong. Also, I ordered a different converter ring out of New York and got the same result. And that second ring works fine on my 180 APO-Telyt.

I've removed the cams--all three of them, even though you really only have to remove 1 & 2. That didn't help. There is a ring at the back of the lens, the one that carries the ball bearing for aperture click-stops. I guess it could be binding on the conversion ring. But it doesn't bind on the original Leica ring, so it doesn't make sense. They are both flat across the mating surface, and flat is flat.

Too bad. The 90 was the most important lens I wanted to convert.

Has anyone else run into this?

@Ronald: no, because it works fine as long as I don't tighten the screws all the way down. Something is binding up, but it is not the control lever. An email to Fotodiox did get me a reply, suggesting that the ball bearing that serves to establish the aperture click-stops could be a little out of place, thus binding too hard on the rear plate. I'll be looking into that.
