I want to buy the most recent edition at a reasonable price to read and learn, not collect.

Any leads on where to look?

It is out of print so places like eBay make sense, as the booksellers will be jacking the price up to $$$. Save a search and let eBay do the work for you.

I have a recent one, published in 2005 by Lark Books I believe. I think I paid the cover price for it ($39.95) about 3 years ago.

Last spring I also got a mint copy of the first English-language edition (1987) at a Chicago camera collectors show. I think I paid about $25 or $30.

I see them at $100-140 plus pretty consistently. And, not to tease you, I made my first ebay sale with my copy. I started mine @ .99 and no reserve but a $100 BIN. It sold in all of 6 or 7 minutes at my BIN. Last year, I offered it here for trade and was looking at much less dollar wise but no one seemed interested. Back on the shelf it went.
They are available but not usually anything like what the retail was when it was in print.
As suggested above, I'd do an ebay search and save that search until you find one at what you want to pay.

Seriously, the vendor at the show had an amazon.com printout slipped into the book to show people (the book was kept wrapped in a plastic zip-lock bag), but the printout was for a more recent printing). The price that a couple of the newer versions had sold for were both over $200. But truthfully, I have no idea what this version might be worth.
