Hi all,
Does anybody know if its possible to hire a Leica M-E or demonstrator for a day in the UK?
I'm tentatively close now and it'd be nice to to just confirm what I think before I take the leap...

(I've downloaded M9 DNG's using the 35'cron ASPH - same as mine, and am mightily impressed) :D
Thanks,

Steve.

Hi Steve,

I'm a Leica M-E shooter and was wondering what else you might want to know about the camera? I'm not in the UK but here in the US so can't help you with a demonstrator or rental option.

But I do know that at the Leica stores here in the states they often have weekend demonstrations for their cameras.

Thanks. I intend to phone Bruton Place tomorrow and see what they say or Richard Caplan.

Duane - I've pretty much decided but would just like confirmation before I make a great (financial) leap. Quite a bit of Nikon gear will have to go and some has served me well for 12 years. I love the results of my M6TTL on E6 and they are discernible from my Nikon shots on the same film. So many times I've taken the M6TTL out and wanted digital capability with it...
What more can I say than that.
If I think of anything specific I'll be in touch.

Thanks,

Steve.

Completely understand. My short time with the camera and the Leica M glass is what really makes the difference for me. I'm sure you know all about the quirks the Leica M9/M-E have from battery life, ISO and all that. I would assume the meter works similar to the M6 and of course the feel will be about the same.

BTW, I was shooting at a surprise birthday party last evening and it was interesting that no one else had a camera there. But a couple guest that like to photograph that have DSLRs were not familiar at all with Leica. They'd heard the name but was about all.

Funny the first question asked by one of the guests was how many frames per second the camera could shoot? In further questions it became apparent the individual really didn't know much more than setting his camera to the green P and then point and shoot.

Anyway....
