Great shots lately!

John Neal, I love yours. The first one is stronger, but the other one is mysterious.

thompsonks, that's very Evans indeed!

Dave, the one of the kids is so powerful.

Allen and Vince, congrats on your news!

Michael, welcome back! Central line I guess?

Fabio,

Thanks - the contrast in my 2nd is very low (dark, shady corner), maybe a bit more punch?

I particularly like your saxophonist shot (third one above), superb - as Michael said - what glass are you using?

Micheal,

Great tube shot, I would be interested to learn about your post processing, I'm still very new to the MM and find I lack a bit on contrast. I'm trying to ensure I don't overexpose, and sticking to ISO less than 800 most of the time. What gems of wisdom have you for us mortals?

Hi John. I'm sure lots of people think my processing style is over wrought, but it works for me 😀

I wrote a couple of posts on how I do things - no 2 images are processed the same, but it's a guide.

good luck
Michael
btw, i don't use filters. I have a yellow-green and an orange and I find, if your scene is a combination of contrasting tones, eg; sky and green landscape, it's more difficult to process than not using a filter.
Just my own experience.

Became a Monochrom owner just a couple days ago. (Had a certified preowned deal I just couldn't pass up)

This is a very very interesting camera indeed. The noise/grain is so "natural", and the tonality you can get from the file is really fantastic. I can think like I'm using B/W film from shooting time to developing in Lightroom to "digital printing" in Silver Efex. Now I really want to figure out better ink-jet printing solution.

And now I can comfortably say "oh sorry my camera can take only b/w" (with embarrassed face) when I share family/friend event photos and someone asks "can I have a color version of the photo?" 😀

Work has been busy and still haven't got time to shoot anything much, and I need to figure out more how to develop and make good prints with the MM, but here are a few snaps from a couple days of ownership.

I think it's fine as is.

I used the 50mm Sonnar and the 28mm Elmar for that gig, the second and the last photos above are 28mm, the others 50mm.

Fabio, thanks - I will keep on trying 😉

Michael, thanks for your insight, I have a lot to learn, and it is interesting to see how PS handles files differently than LR (I have only used the latter so far for MM shots). I wonder if ACR has different algorythms for processing raw files? In LR I can get close to your output, but not bang on. I'm also struggling with the file sizes / processing overhead on my ageing laptop. Time for a technology transplant, methinks. (cracking bus shot too, BTW)

Overall a great thread and a constant source of inspiration.
