Leica M Monochrom: best pics

Really beautiful tones Jim. Are these from the original M Monochrom or from the new 246 one? And would you care to mention anything about your post processing?

Thanks,
-Tim

Thank you Tim for your nice comments. The camera is the 246 model. Lens 50MM Cron APO wide open. Very little processing, with the Focus Aid on the camera and live view (I was at a restaurant so I didn't have much time before they seated a party at this table) I pretty much got it right up front. Decreased Black point a bit, decreased highlights to tone done the lamps and that's it. I don't have my MAC with me today or I would tell you exactly..
ISO was 3200 or 5000 I can't remember. In the next few days when I have time I'll pull the details from my MAC. Lightroom CC by the way.
Thanks again.
Jim

A pretty soggy weekend here in Chicagoland. But a good time for a gallery visit and finally getting to the Aaron Siskind show. A few from in and around the Art Institute.

I've been exploring abstracts this spring and think I may stay with it throughout the summer. There are many ways to approach this genre, but I find I"m drawn to more strongly abstracted subject matter. The alleyways of downtown Chicago are a wonderland of this type of imagery. And the MM works well for it.

I like them John.

Have you had a chance to get to the Siskind exhibit at the Art Institute?

Thank you. Yes, I've seen the show and plan to go back again. Siskind said he liked the subject to be abstracted but clearly retain its identity as an object. I feel drawn to stronger abstraction, but I'm still experimenting, trying different things, and seeing what resonates. The MM has been terrific for this.

I've always felt somewhat limited by the literal nature of photography. Some of the abstracts I've taken feel so expansive and draw me in like few photographs have. I'd like to take this summer to pursue it a little deeper and see where it leads. (There are a few more on my tumblr.)
