White Sands, NM | M246 | ZM 50 Planar

Like a still from Antonioni. Bleakly beautiful against the sand, but in person not offering much relief. There are ramadas like these at other parks in the West—elegant winglike cover, but generally in areas where they function like ovens. I remember cooking in the shade of one in the Badlands. It wasn’t food I was cooking, but me. And the flies.

Greetings,
Well after a 9-10 year hiatus from RFF, it feels good to be back.

Recently treated myself to a Typ246 with 50/1.5 ZM and have to say that I been loving the rendering by the pair.

Welcome back Zen Shooter. That looks like the walk out to second beach, and I miss crossing the border and those jaunts. Nicely done!

1934 Zeiss Jena Sonnar 50mm 1.5

Decided to play with an uncoated 1934 50mm 1.5 Sonnar on my M246. I love the history of working with stuff like this. I haven't used it in a long time, but f4 on this particular lens was an aperture that really struck me as retaining some "3d" while at the same time retaining some classic character. My model is my usual and best buddy. We have a lot of fun together and I am so glad I record the memories

Does anyone Use the camera'sTones / selenium, or blue ?

I shoot raw only so have not used them. Probably if I wanted to tone, I'd still shoot raw and tone in post.

But it would be interesting to see the same scene with each of the three tone colors. I'm curious how strong they are.

Thanks for that John.
