Leica M Monochrom: best pics

I wanted to post another try with the clarity )mid-range contrast) adjustment, since I think I was wrong before to use the "definition" slider. This time I'm using the mid-range contrast slider. Here's the unaltered RAW file from the Monochrom M9:

And here's the same frame with some contrast reduction, and mid-range boost:

I can produce many variations, but when I tried reducing the overall contrast a lot, and jacking up the mid-range a lot, The pictures just looked flat no matter how I increased the mid-range contrast. I didn't bother to post those: flat is flat. My wife picked the highest contrast shots, no matter how I did it. I thought the highest contrast ones might be a bit much; but the snap crackle and pop was still appealing (the second one is it). I might try some more with the in-camera jpegs. Overall impression is that contrast is contrast, whether done with the main slider or the mid-range one; but cutting down on the main slider by very much seems to be a mistake. YMMV with Lightroom or other processor.

Want to see any more examples from Aperture, or call it a day?

Thanks Rob! Much appreciated. Loving this camera but it's too cold out right now. All I wanna do is get out there!

More to come once the weather breaks.

Rob, the M9 RAW and adjusted: I like the second now with the slight contrast reduction. But not sure that that is precisely the reason I like it more.....(Still learning how to quote in RFFv2)
