Yes, that was the thinking. I've shot the Carnival for a few years now, and always ended up with most shots in colour. I thought it was time for a change. At least I won't get comments this year noticing how "colourful" the event is.

I don't mind either, the monochrom shots have their place, well done Fabio.
 
Yes, I think it's very effective, because it subverts expectations, and highlights some shapes which might be a bit masked by splashes of colour.

#2 and #4 are really nice. I think without the color it becomes more about the people.

The different layers in the shot with 'Music/Art' are intriguing. Also the small face at the bottom right of the top section is a surreal touch in relation to the main subject.
