Interesting shot and subject. I'm aghast at what he's done to himself, but then I'm an old fogy. He must consider this as enhancing his life in some way. It looks like mutilation to me, and will limit his ability to find a decent job. He doesn't look very happy, maybe self-sedated. Of course he's not the only or first - I don't understand it.

Definitely won't be sitting at a board of directors table at a fortune 500 corp but I think for him thats the point. I don't get it either. Made for a great portrait subject..

And, lxmike, thanks. This image was second round for this street shoot.
This was my favourite from that day

Michael, I live in (South) London!
You have an eye for the same sort of images I look for, but I think I could learn from you. We should see about arranging something.
*Disclaimer: Any photos I take would not feature in this thread, as I don't have a Monochrom.

It must be darn near impossible to take a bad image w/ that camera. I wish I had the scratch to buy one. You guys are real lucky. Congrats.

Still rembering my TMY at 800ISO days, concerts with a MM are something else:
The big cymbal left are partly blown out
but there was a spot from the top down, no way to preserve this with the other musicians having very low light.

I am torn for the above shot between,
a) phantastic shot, ideal framing and perfect timing
and
b) HCB did that already ...
I am leaning more to a) at the moment.

It was a lucky shot with the small girl. I saw the scene, focused on that puddle and waited. 5 minutes and I saw the kid. Kid's love puddles, so I hoped and was rewarded!
