Leica M Monochrom: best pics

One thing I did discover is that I need to start using faster SD cards. I spoke with Mark Brady at Leica NJ yesterday, and he recommended using SD cards with a minimum 95MB/s write speed. My 30MB/s SD cards just aren't cutting it.

I also ordered one of Leica's 1/2 cases, and it should be here today. One thing I noticed about the 1/2 cases -- be sure to get one that will also work with the Leica M-P (14886). The 1/2 case for the M240 (the now discontinued 14880) does not have the cutout for the frame selector lever (as the 240 does not have one).

Jim any ETA on yours?

Talked to Josh yesterday. His first shipment was small which only covered his very first pre-orders. I didn't pull the trigger fast enough. Maybe his next shipment will get to me. Very popular camera at this point. I'll be patient.

Thanks for asking.

Vince do you think the slow start up is the SD card?

I know it's a photo thread, but with the release of M246, I'm sure quite a few members are now thinking of fetching the original MM at lower going price. So...
Heads Up: I just saw a bunch of MM showed up on Leica Store Miami website, priced as low as $3895. 🙂

Hi Klaus

Where you talking to me?

If so Klaus that is the old MM. I just shoot all manual. When I metered it I placed the average of the high tones on the asphalt zone four. Metered then stopped down about a stop from the meter. Shot then checked the histogram and saw the highlights were in check so moved on to something else.

Yes indeed, I thought that shot was already taken with the M246, never mind. But thanks for the explanation.

it took me a while and I still blow highlights once in a while but I have learned how to work with it. I figured that if I placed those tones at IV the sewer cover would be a bout 4 stops/ 4 1/2 stop hotter. My guess was right.
