Leica M Monochrom: best pics

wonderful! how did you get the reflection?

Thanks Jim it just happened. I was walking past and I saw the girl look up at the schedule. I saw it starting to happen and just waited. Just as she looked up I noticed the reflection and the poster on the bus stop. Pushed the shutter when it all seem to come together.

As i continue to appreciate the shots here, and seeing shots from the new MM, all the more makes me miss my ol' MM which is still not with me (sensor replacement done, but awaiting shipment). 🙁

My 246 First Impressions

My 246 First Impressions

Sorry Vince...

The CCD looks like Tri-X, the CMOS like Verichrome Pan.

The 240 images look like Sophia Loren, the 246 like a Barbie doll.

I'm sure the images are squeaky clean. Sometimes it's all about personality; guitars are that way. I own some 40 guitars, but I always reach for my Telecaster first.

It's all okay - sometimes I want Tri-X, sometimes I prefer Verichrome. Don't forget, I've only had the camera for about 10 days and have only had time to shoot a handful of photos - I have not fully explored all its abilities and 'personalities'. And, I could always get another CCD Mono down the road if I want that option again too 🙂 . But I'm pretty confident this new camera will be able to give me a range of personalities. I'm not worried.

What I have noticed, when looking at an 11"x16" print, is that it's definitely sharper, and I detect more going on in both the shadows and the highlights (just to my eye, anyway). What I will try to do is shoot at higher ISO's and see how its 'personality' changes. Either way, it's all a learning experience, and I certainly don't mind! I am still glad I made the move to the new camera.
