Leica M Monochrom: best pics

Thanks Mark -- it's a bit different than what I typically do, but it was literally around the corner from my house. Just goes to show that maybe I should get out more 🙂

Noticed just after I took it that the third boy from the left is standing exactly where there is a gap in the fence.

Vince, I'm not Christian, but that's a very moving photograph. The powerful symbolism of the cross, and what one can only imagine is on the notes. The lighting and composition are particularly wonderful, and I'm glad you included the window in the top right. A real winner, in my view.

Many thanks John -- the Post-It notes were very odd indeed. Just goes to show that the Lord accepts prayers in many forms!

I keep coming back to this image - really very very compelling and (for a European like me) it has a wonderfully American feel as well - almost Nat Geo in black and white somehow, Bravo! Love the church as well.

Reached 64 degrees here today - warm enough for a late afternoon game of basketball.

As a vegetarian for nearly 50 years, this Boy Scout holiday "Meat Snacks" drive struck me as a pretty strange concept. I think I'll stick with Girl Scout cookies.

Great catch.
Remember the chicken and the pig going to the restaurant to order a bacon and eggs sandwich: the hen is committed but the pig is involved.

Where is the meat? These guys, are they committed or involved? Are you?

Went back to that old house / building for another look, and came away with this. The lighting is different than those earlier photos (was an overcast day), and I think this is about the best I could get from this subject. Still not the greatest, but it was worth the revisit:

Very nice, Vince. Good light and a pleasing organization of an otherwise cluttered scene. The painting anchors the compisition well, but is very strange. Is that a nativity cutout?

I see it was taken this week and you're in Baltimore. Do you walk the streets all winter? I'm relatively holed up, but really should get out in spite of the cold. I've got a lot of past MM stuff I could post but would rather post new.

Thanks John - yes it is a Nativity / Mary and Jesus cutout. Very odd indeed.

No I hardly walk the streets of Baltimore at all - I live outside the city and very rarely venture there to take photos (other than when work requires it). Much prefer to wander the backroads of New Mexico, and I'm going there next month for two weeks, thankfully.
