Surprised that we have never crossed paths on the streets.

Thanks. I'm always surprised, too. These two are from last weekend's roadtrip to Minnesota. I can usually be found in the Loop, although I don't time to venture too far from my office in the Willis Tower.

I used to shoot a lot in the city on weekends, but now that I commute everyday, the train is the last place I want to be on a weekend.

What's you most frequent shooting location?

I shoot in the loop a lot and I also really like Wicker Park/Buck Town area.

That's a beautiful portrait with a particularly nice rendering. I sorta wish I'd gone Sonnar instead of Planar for my MM.

Thank you John! I already had a 50 Summicron that I love but never had a "fast" 50. Reading and seeing posts with the Sonnar C I stayed on the lookout and careful what you wish for.... 😉 I am new to MM but like this combo a lot! And this lens seems right on calibration (as it will be 🙂 at f1.5

Yeah, many say they prefer more classical lenses on the MM, and the Sonnar would be among them. I felt the Planar would be a better all-rounder, so I went that route. But I really like what I see from older lenses on the MM. I'm now exploring options that won't break the bank.

The Zeiss Sonnar C seems to really fit the bill for use with the newer M cameras. Like you with the Planar, I have the V4 Summicron and really like it. I will at some point try it out on the MM.

It's funny I have a silver print I made of my son in aorund 01, with M2 or 6 and 50 Collapsible Summicron. The rendering of that pic and this one, especially the OOF background are strikingly similar! YAY MM 🙂
