Nice set, Allen. Not sure if it's subject matter, or processing, or both, but I usually recognize your photographs before I see they are yours. You have a distinctive look.

Thanks John. I think what you describe is a combination of things and to me that is a huge compliment. It is something I work on and hope I do get right at least some of the time.

Really nice shot yourself. Seen and timed well.

A second to that!

A second to that!

I will second John's compliment Allen. Your work is very distinctive as well as a sense of discipline about how you approach your subject, composition and light that comes through consistently.

As a newbie to the Monochrom, I've also enjoyed viewing many nice images from folks who post here. And John your most recent "Doorway image" here exemplifies that. Nicely captured moment!

Thank you David.

An yes I agree there are some wonderfully talented photographers that post in this thread. The MM is an amazing B&W tool.

Thanks Allen,

I was just excited to get out with the MM and I enjoyed having just it and a lens- no gear distractions. I had mixed feelings posting the two but figured it's good to keep the thread moving! 🙂

Love how you create different worlds with your images here.

Post'm if ya gottem. I like what I see so keep'm coming and thanks for the kind words. I find grabbing the MM and a 35mm lens liberating. Indeed not distractions.

With your 35, do you find yourself with yellow filter affixed or no filter? In Vancouver I was out with my orange filter the other day on my 28 but immediately removed it and went without.

When shooting B&W film, I would usually only use filters for landscape work and on the street no filter. Right now I have my 35 and a yellow filter.

I've have a 75 2.5 Summarit, 35 Lux FLE, 35 2.8 Biogon C, 24 2.8 Elmarit and the 65 Elmar with bellows.

I shoot almost all of my personal work with the MM and the 35 Lux FLE. I use a yellow filter (Heliopan digital) but only about 25% of the time. I also use red and orange filters but only for a desired effect like to bring out clouds or if I want overly light skin tones but most of the time I don't use filters at all though I do find myself using the yellow more lately. Usually to help control clipping in very contrasty lighting conditions.

Fixed my horrible spelling in my previous post (sorry)

Thanks

Thanks

Thank you for that. All makes sense, for me too, filters mostly to contrast clouds/skies and lightening skin tone, with an eye to retain or maintain good detail in shadows, dark hair etc.

I realize it's the same as with film but still wrapping my head around it! 🙂

Have you done any comparison between the Heliopan digital and a b+w mrc? It's my understanding that the digital branded heliopan also offers UV\IR filtration. Also, where does one find this filter? I can only find regular heliopan's that do not mention the digital moniker.
