hello!
I noticed there are a few rings (or any sort of notch-less screws) one must remove to take off the top cover of a Leica M2 or 3... and those probably require special tools.
or do they? anyone removed them with something improvised, or something lying around?
or if it had to be done with some ring-wrenches or something, where did you get them?
cheers,
Dragunov

Removing M tops
Removing M tops
Hi,
It is possible to remove all the necessary fixings to enable the top to be removed using a variety of improvised tools, BUT, do you want to mark it or possibly damage a fairly expensive device? If its a beater a set of electricians tools will probably include an old type of wire stripper that will grip those difficult screws with no flats, can be done but not advised for the faint hearted. I know I've done it, again your competance with a tool kit is the important factor, I've spent more than 60 years with a tool kit not too far from my reach so can claim the necessary skills.
Cheers,
normclarke.
