Leica M to Contax G

Does anyone know if you can get a Leica M to Contax G Adapter or M39 to Contax G Adapter ?

The flange focal distance of the G is slightly longer than M and almost equal for LTM which would make such an adapter more challenging to design.

Not sure about a Leica to Contax or M39 to Contax adapter. To be sure, I've never heard of such being made.

I have all the G lenses, and if such a beast was available for Contax G to Leica and the price reasonable, I would be back into Leica Ms in a flash. The Gs have a unique mount and when the electronics in my G1 cameras render up the spirit, sadly I'll have a nice collection of superb display lenses, but not much else.

I believe someone in Japan is able to convert the lenses, but the price may be horrific.

Check out www.japancamerahunter.com - I recall something posted there about G lens conversions, which may not be what you want, but it may be of interest.

Hawks Factory also sells a helicoid for converting Contax G lenses to Leica M:

The conversion is never the other way around, due to the screw-driven focus from the body being all but impossible to implement into a driven helicoid (in the direction from Leica to a Contax G body).

I had DAG convert a Zeiss G 16mm/8 Hologon to Leica M with RF coupling. I also have bought a Zeiss G 45mm/2 that someone at RFF converted from G to M mount with full RF coupling. He used Hawks helicoid, I think.
There are people who have videos on YouTube that show you how they convert a Hologon from G to M.

I had Hawk Peng convert G to M some years ago, but the original question was adapting M lenses to G, unless it was phrased incorrectly.

Yes, sounds like Anthsmith is asking about putting M and M39 glass on Contax G1/2 bodies.

Never heard of such a converter, probably for the reasons mentioned by Splitimageview in post#2.

With the great Contax lenses that are AF would you want to manual focus an M lens on a G body?

Typically, adapting lenses to another camera the lens' mount is thickened with an adapter. Rarely have I ever seen a mount reduced in thickness. Only two I did were a Minolta 58mm f/1.2 to Nikon F and Canon FD 85L to Nikon F--both lenses the rear of the lens was in the body of the camera and hit the mirror at infinity.

Thanks Gents For Your input, I have seen a conversion of an M To G Mount but The Cost was 800 Dollars Ouch, some what pricey and once the lens is converted then thats it I Guess I will Just keep Looking As I ideally Want Something 38-40 mm for street photography the leads you have given I will investigate furtherYou never Know what may show up thanks Again.

I can see no reason to adapt M to G, especially at that price, so I'm very curious.

I have the G 45/2 both in G mount and also in M mount. It is a good lens.

If such a beast really exists I guess it would have to have custom electronics to invoke the right frameline crop. I wonder if there's even an ability to force the G1/2 to crop for 40mm or 75mm or any of the focal lengths for which there were no G-mount native lenses.

I agree that a link to the company performing the M-mount > G the conversion would be very interesting.

I will try and find the link, there was no auto focus on the Lens Just MANUAL.
