Hi all,
I recently picked up a Nikon Z6 to try, and a metabones Leica M-Nikon Z adapter to use my voigtlander 35mm ultron f2 on it.
It's working fairly well so far to my surprise, but the infinity stop on the lens focusses way past infinity when adapted to the Z6. I know one can home shim the adapter but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Voigtlander adapter or similar in regards to correct infinity focussing.
Are there any known adapters with correct infinity focussing from factory?
(For anyone wondering, the z6 is stupidly good and the ultron works really well on it. I'd highly recommend it as a combo for casual use)

How does a lens focus beyond infinity? I've used several M mount lenses on my Z7 and every one of them worked superbly. That said, I don't usually focus far away.

Give it a try! set them to a wide-ish aperture, focus to the infinity stop, and then point it at a faraway object with the zoom or peaking engaged.
Apparently a lot of the adapters do it to compensate for differing infinity focus on different lenses.
I wouldn't care too much about a technicality like this, but I'm used to racking to infinity and shooting in a pinch for faraway subjects (like landscapes) with my leica. This requires more care.

Like was said above, almost all adapters will result in focusing past infinity because they are conservatively designed to work with a variety of lenses. Not a big deal. Better than focusing short of it.

I’ve had 3 different Contarex to Nikon Z adapters that wouldn’t focus all the way to infinity, and, yes, that’s worse.
I think all my M to Nikon Z adapters are good, they do all focus to infinity at any rate. Past that, I guess I need to check. Maybe they do and I never noticed. Am always using focus peaking so I might not have noticed. Will check tomorrow.

All of my M lenses (including the 35/f2) do the same thing with a K&F adapter on a Z6.

As a general practice with manual focus lenses, I don't focus a lens to it's infinity hard stop. I usually focus just short of the hard stop when I want a distant point-of-focus.
As for adapters, I use a variety of brands and combinations of different mounts (ie.: R to M to Z) and the only adapter I have that comes close to accurately making the hard-stop at infinity is a 7Artisans M to Z. It is a little short on the registration distance so it's possible to focus just past infinity. Most of my other adapters are shimmed to come close to the infinity hard stop but a few are deliberately not shimmed... fwiw ; - )

Hi all, my first post here, lurking around and finally acquired a very lightly used Z7 to go with a couple of M lenses. I have the 35f2 asph and it focuses beyond infinity on my M240 and some other digital M bodies I mounted on. I opted for the 7artisan adapter with close focus, and it behaved exactly the same. However with the close focus ring I can compensate for the hard stop by nudging the close focus making the mount move forward a little, but I didn't bother as I'm addicted to do macro shots with it, great stuff. I do think 7A adapter works very well because they make lenses for M mount and know what they're doing.

Thanks for the input - I also have a feeling that the 7a/ttartisan adapters are some of the better ones.
