I can't say anything about the DMR, but compared to the M8 with the Elmar 28 Asph, the SD14 does quite well, IMHO:

Hmmm.. I couldn't confuse it with an M8 image. It is nice but there really is something lacking. Bite, clarity, microcontrast, whatever you call it. Look at the way the antennas are washed out, for instance. The only real way to test would be side-by-side of course, but I mean something like this:
