leica M worn lens catch

A friend of mine has an old M3 35mm Summicron that's been used to the point that the lens lock slot has worn to an angle on one edge. This allows the lens to come off the body with out pushing the lens release button. I was just wondering if others have come across this and what the method of repair might be.
