Exactly .... it will be called the MC (C for colour).
It will also only be available in hammertone and will be known affectionately by the poor sods who buy it as the 'MC Hammer!'

Yup! Leica has a special event scheduled for today (day before the public start of Photokina), presumably for the unveiling of the M10 and other new products.

Obviously the name for the new camera will be Emm-Zero-Zero, or "M00".
There will be a choice of duotone finishes, black+white or brown+white. Covering will be an incredible fibrous anti-slip material, from natural sources of course. Also available will be a wide double-grip, steadicam-style attachment known as Longhorn.
Sensor will be kept spotless by a retractable, wet-cleaning system mounted below the sensor. (The slurping sound heard during sensor-cleaning on cameras with pre-production firmware is expected to be fixed with an update after a few months.)
At the rear of the body is a conveniently mounted, foldaway, external cleaning accessory, used to flick debris (and unwanted flies) away from sensitive areas of the camera and lens.
More seriously, has there actually been an announcement of a a new 'M'? I thought there was just 'something significant', so maybe a multi-mount digital of some sort and a few S-lenses.
Maybe I have too much time this morning -- I should go and develop some film I think.

thank god, this is not my camera. Who needs video? Life view?
Hell, Leicas were made for people who take photos. And who think and do not let their camera do the thinking for them.
Does someone know if this camera will have a mobile-phone adapter so You can directly upload to YouTube and Facebook?
Well, if it brings the 2nd-hand price of the M9 down, its fine with me.

And right now, in the Classifieds, M9s? One.

I don't think there will be an M10 tonight. I think they'll go CL-style: cheaper than an M, a mirrorless solution that can use M glass, with an adapter for R glass.
But I know zero about anything, and am probably so wrong.

I take photos with cameras with live view. It is really easy to turn off the screen. Real photographers only use film. I'm scanning right now and will probably be doing so as I follow the Leica Event this AM. Oh, I purchased a NEX-7 with full intentions of being a "real photographer" and then my oldest started competitive soccer and I found that 1080/60P did a much better job at sports than my $4500, five year old 1080i three chip camcorder. Now, I'm no longer a "real photographer"..

it really makes no since to me that they would release an M10 this year. The Monochrom was just released and was based on the M9... why would the maintain two separate manufacturing lines? A digital CL would make since as there is a market for that. but if they were going to release an M10 why didn't they wait on the Monochrom and base it on the M10 instead of the M9... guess we will all find out soon enough though

Probably not two production lines. One line, different parts and kitting.

yeah very possible. i just figured why have multiple parts?
unless the M10 will share much with the M9 / Monochrom then perhaps it is just a separate circuit board and sensor? or just a single piece of the chassis is different. still seems strange to base the Monochrom on the M9 if they were developing an M9 replacement at the same time. just a few short hours now though

well the Monochrome just sort of 'arose' from some discussions within Leica, if i recall....i doubt it took that much effort to actually develop it.
secondly...the M10 will be introduced today, but will likely not reach market til 2013. so there will be a delay....

That makes since. it shares so much with the M9 i would imagine they basically removed the Bayer filter and made some software adjustments... now we just need them to offer that as an "upgrade" to an M9

M10 with next generation Maestro vs. Jenoptik provided DSP (slow). If so, very fast..
