Many years ago I found online a lens called Luxon. It is a 50/2 with a screw mount that is similar (but not identical) to ltm. I mailed this lens to our Brian S, and he kindly adapted it to a real ltm by inserting the glass elements inside a J-3 barrel. J-3 lenses used to be cheap, and we could find online host lenses for my Luxon. I took some photos with it many years ago, and then I forgot about it until a few days ago. It has a crazy OOF swirling in the background, and it also vignettes at f16 and similar. It also may have a need to be shimmed, but this did not scare me off!
I added some contrast to each image.

I need to figure out how to best use this lens and how to focus with it better.

It looks sharp. It would be interesting to see some shots wide open for the swirly bokeh.

Several of the Images in the smugmug folder were taken wide open.
That's one of the first lens I ever converted to LTM. I remember that J-3- gave me fits. Much later realized someone had made a lens out of parts of different J-3's, and had the wrong rear fixture. It never worked, does with the Luxon. The vignetting- Long back-focus on the lens, interfering with the RF cam of the focus mount.

This lens does very well with portraits. Brian. I bet there are very few Luxon 50mm/2 ltm around (with RF focus). It is nice to use a lens that few photographers use.

I recall that Brian used glue to hold together some parts of the lens. He asked me then to be careful with the lens when using it. The print images above are sharp, so using film seems to suit this lens well. The full frame sensor may expose the lens for needing some shimming.

I managed this morning to catch in one image [only] the swirling effect with the Luxon. All images were taken at F2, and I focused in several images on some object lose to me, but there has to be a specific situation under which the swirling is crazy in the images.
