Maintaining bottom loading was a stupid decision at the time of the M3 and it's even more stupid to have carried it into cameras that don't even load film.
I've been following the rumors, and it looks like a pretty minimal update. But then again, the M10 is such a great camera, why fix things that aren't broken? The variable RAW resolution, if true, is an interesting idea. Other mirrorless users are getting hot and heavy over eye-AF and high framerates, meanwhile the Leica crowd is excited over an integrated battery door. Well, to each their own.
A 60MP sensor is something to write home about. Are they getting it from Sony? I have forgotten who made the 40MP sensor in the M10-R and the 47MP sensor in the Q2.
No mention about carrying forward the thumb rest.
Do we really need 60MP? I was under the impression that the 18MP of my M9s is enough to pretty well take advantage of my ASPH/APO lenses, and more than enough for my non- or pre-ASPH ones. Well, I suppose the pros among us can take advantage of 60MP for making really big enlargements. Shouldn't Leica continue a model that can be sold at lower price for us amateurs? Many have printers that don't go above 11 x 17.

Maybe you do not need it, but Leica has to make it for those that do.
Leica is never going to sell a cheap M again... at 300dpi, 60mp is about a 20x30" print. This is not big in the gallery or museum setting these days.

99% don’t need 60MP, nor they have anything to do with galleries and museums. But many are just lazy to frame instead of crop.
I don't disagree on your point that 60MP is extravagant, but printed at the same sizes, your 60MP pictures will not show any more motion blur or focus errors than your 18MP pictures.
You don't hear too many Phase One users complain about motion blur and focus errors with their 100MP and 150MP sensors. The large prints made with Phase One cameras I have seen are phenomenally sharp.
Have you have used a Phase One camera?? Those meant to be used on tripods not handheld like Leica's are.... I mean you could use a Leica on a tripod but 99.99% of Leica shooters shoot handheld I would guess..
That might be true, but Leica has to use what is current to cater to those types. You always build a camera for best case scenario, not worse. The rest of the people can just deal with it. It is no big deal really.
