Leica M240 scratched screen

My M240 has a light brush scratch over the LCD on the back. It's more annoying than anything else since it isn't dep. I assume that I will have to send it to Leica to have it replaced if I want to fix it.

Are there any other choices for repair?

Might it be covered under warranty?

How much might this cost to fix?

Is there any way to get the buffer upgrade while it is there?

Sorry for all the questions, I just would like to know what I am getting myself into since the camera is perfectly usable with it there.

Personally, I'd forget about it. It's purely cosmetic and doesn't affect the mechanics. And it would be an expensive repair - not worth it to me.

But, I'm one to never put a cover on my phone, tablet, or most LCD panels...

Only replace if you can't sell it and think it matters to a new buyer. Otherwise, sell for a slight discount versus the going rate. There's always guys like me that will buy it!

Put a plastic screen protector on it- the stick on "film" type. It should hide the scratch. It worked for me on a Sony NEX sith an injured screen. If you can't get one the right size buy a screen protector for a tablet and cut one out of that. In fact you will be able to cut several out of a screen protector for a tablet.

The first scratch is done, the others (body, screen, etc...) will be easier.

"The first cut is the deepest!" Use it like the tool that it is and the rest of the scuffs won't bother you. Definitely don't send it in for a repair unless you plan on leaving it on a shelf it's whole life to be sold at auction in 100 years.

It is pretty expensive to replace; the whole camera has to be dismantled. Should you decide to do so anyway -it will set you back the better part of 1000$-, get a sapphire LCD cover. Buffer upgrades are not available.

Ultimately the scratch is unimportant and I''d be ignoring it personally. It really is important to treat these things like cameras and not sweat about stuff that has no effect on image quality etc. I know they are crazy expensive but you have to adopt this attitude otherwise you'll go insane! 😀
