and contact don goldberg at Dag camera - he has replacement leatherette for that backdoor and for the spot next to the mount.
sweet! If you don't mind me asking, how much was it to get it and the lens working?
@$200 with shipping. The finder needed some special care and cleaning. It was extra work, but no need for a rebuild or major repair so the cost for that was less than estimated.

What a great LEICA story. A Leica M3 tuck away in a unknown little shop and got saved and restored. Some guys just have all the LUCK and all the FUN...
My Naked M3 has returned home.

Youxin did not have any DS M3 covers in stock but he did me the big favor of removing the old Vulcanite and sent her back to me as naked as a baby. I will jump on Cameraleather and buy a kit as soon as I get done with this update.
How did she come out? I can just say I am very pleased. First of all the full CLA he performed has left me a camera that is clean, quiet, smooth and ready to go. Next, he repaired the finder for 1/3 the cost he originally estimated. The finder now is crystal clear, like I imagine it was on day one. The patch is big and contrasty, and the alignment is perfect.
Finally, he did also CLA the Nikkor 105. The barrel remains very user/ugly cosmetically, but he cleaned the glass to almost 100%.
So, for an investment so far of just over $300 I now have a well tuned DS M3 and a very usable Nikkor 105/2.5. Throw in the cost of a covering kit and I am still a very happy camper.
I will try to post some photos of the naked lady in the next day or so.
Oh, I have decided to throw a Jupiter 8 on the front of this camera and have a very nice user 2 lens kit which has cost me a bit less than $400.
How's that for M photography?

Looks great, especially considering the price.

The thing I love about those older DS M3s is the old school shutter speeds - 1/5, 1/10, 1/25 - all can be done decently handheld (ok...maybe 1/5 is a bit tough) and they give just that little smidgen more on exposure.
Can't wait to see her in her new black ball gown
