Leica M3. Zeiss Hologon 16/8

Raid,
It was a relatively straight forward procedure, once replacement barrel came in. I am still running a roll of film, so no results. If needed, focus can be tweaked. It was your conversion that gave this idea.

So this was made with a Hologon... I like it very much!!

Thanks for sharing, Raid.

Thanks. Yes, it is the Zeiss Hologon 16/8 re-issue for the G1/G2 cameras. The original Hologon 15mm is a collector's item now. DAG changed the mount to M. This is the first time in which I am able to see the sharpness and clarity with film.

Raid,
The line through the middle of the images looks like a scratch to me. Check your negatives if you got them back. Could have happened in the M3 or during processing the film.
Regards,

How can I tell if the scratch was caused by the backplate of the M3? What should I look for on the negatives? If I see the negative scratched, how can we tell if it was caused by the M3 or by the developing process or scanning process of the negatives?

You would have to see what side of the negative the scratch is on. If it is on the base side, probably caused by the film back in the M3. If it is on the emulsion side of the film, no doubt caused by a roller in a film processor.

Regards,

That lens is so wide and sharp...right out to the corners..
That it ripped a hole in the space time continuum..
The line you see..is a rip in the cosmic fabric..to another universe...lol..

Emile: DAG charges $500. Turnaround time is about 3-4 weeks. Always check if he is busy or not. It is 6 bit coded and tested by him.

Here are some images from the second roll. Can you see any lines here?

This was the last frame, with 50% cropped off.

Thanks a lot, Erik. I had $1500 for something very special, and I knew that it had to be a unique lens. My wife then chipped in $500 for the mount conversion.
It is amazing how much better the Hologon works with film than with a digital sensor. There is sharpness and a sense of wideness but all without distortion.
