Well finally after 25 years of use my two light meter batteries have packed in. They were Energizer EPX76 but I can not find that type anymore. What are the now standard batteries used in this camera please ???
I saw that but the Voltage will be off, two equate to 3.1 V
This statement I know might sound stupid, but Voltage discrepancy’s cause issues. I am going to search for a Leica PDF download.
It’s incredible that the two batteries that have worn out have lasted me since I bought the camera, 25 years of battery use to me is amazing.
The manual has some recommended batteries and brands. FWIW, the German-made Varta V 76 PX are 1.55v. The M6 TTL manual recommends the Duracell D 357, which are also 1.55v.
I prefer a CR1/3N Lithium 3V battery. Mainly because they have a very long shelf life and I don’t have to fiddle with 2 batteries. I have used 2xSR44s (1.55V)in the past with no problems.
While LR44 may substitute SR44 in a pinch, it is NOT a silver oxide battery (it is alkaline) and has a different discharge profile. Silver oxide is preferable over alkaline.
And lithium is preferable over silver oxide since they do not leak as easily. Having said that, the negative impact of lithium mining upon the environment is increasing - just ask Chile, Bolivia, Tibet, et al.
Yeah good point.
It is a nightmare to be a concerned consumer. Can a pack of 10 batteries for $1.49 possibly have been produced with the same attention to pollution, workers health etc. as a pack that cost $10?
I tend to buy batteries produced in democratic countries under the possibly naive assumption that there are some regulations in place, but I am well aware that the lithium in my Japanse or German made lithium battery does not originate from either of those two contries.
